Authenticity as Anchor: A Reflection on Teaching, Community, and Becoming One of DC’s Best Yoga Teachers

When I Worried If Anyone Would Show Up

I remember the earliest days of teaching — first with @bfwc_, and later with @flowwellyoga — carrying a quiet fear:

Would people show up?
Would they find value in what I offered?
Would what lived in me translate into something that could live in community?

Those questions sat heavy on my spirit, especially in the beginning. I didn’t know if my voice, my story, or my approach to this practice would resonate.

But what I learned — slowly, humbly, beautifully — is that:

Authenticity is more than a superpower.
It’s an anchor in unsteady waters.

When you show up as yourself, you attract who is meant for you.
When you teach from your truth, you create space for others to stand in theirs.

Honored to Be Named One of DC’s Best Yoga Teachers

That’s why I’m so deeply grateful to be listed among the best yoga teachers in Washington, DC — surrounded by friends, colleagues, and practitioners whose work continually inspires me.

This recognition is not just about teaching; it’s about community.
It’s about every person who has ever shown up to class and entrusted me with their bodies, breath, and stories.
It’s about every testimony whispered after savasana, every breakthrough moment, every tear released, every joy reclaimed.

I am thankful for every one of you — those who practiced with me once, those who practice with me weekly, and those who found healing in ways I may never fully know.

If You Have a Dream on Your Heart

If you are someone out there with:

A dream on your heart,
A vision in your head,
And courage somewhere in your being —

Go after it.

Do what you must to make the world a little better than you found it.
Do it scared if you need to.
Do it slowly if you must.
But do it.

Your authenticity is enough.
Your calling is real.
Your preparation has already begun.

To God Be the Glory

Everything I have done, everything I am doing, and everything still unfolding is because of God’s grace and guidance.

To God be the glory for all He has done — and all He will continue to do.
